Cross-country skiing trails

Trail 3A Vrbno pod Pradědem – Sokolská chata – FIT circuit – Raketovka – Vrbno pod Pradědem

Trail’s length: 11 km.

Trail 3B  Anenská myslivna – Anenský vrch
Trail’s length: 1,8 km.

Trail 3C Křižovatka Kopřivník – Malá Hvězda – Hubertka – U Školky

Trail’s length: 5,8 km

 

Trail 6A  Pod Železným vrchem - Suchá Rudná – Malá Hvězda 6A

A blue trail from Železný vrch (crossing with the red trail M. Morávka – K. Studánka) past the crossroad at Podlesí and then to Suchá Rudná and Malá Hvězda. It is a combination of yellow and red trails. The trail is wavy and the altitude changes between 702 – 853 m.a.s.l., the length of the trail is 8,4 km. The hiking trail has two descents, which are appropriate even for beginners. There are three information panels on the trail (Pod Železným vrchem, Suchá Rudná, Malá Hvězda). The trail is maintained by snow groomers and snowmachines.

 

Trail 6B  Red circuit Suchá Rudná

This training trail in Suchá Rudná is open for anyone who wants to relax actively or test their physical abilities. The trail’s length is 2,5 km. It follows the blue trail and there are information panels with maps and surface profiles. The circuit is marked with red signs.

 

Trail 6C Yellow circuit Suchá Rudná

This training circuit is open for anyone who wants to relax actively or test their physical abilities. The trail’s length is 2,0 km. It follows the blue trail and there are information panels with maps and surface profiles. The circuit is marked with yellow signs.

 

Trail 6D Hvězda - Malá Hvězda – Ludvíkov – Vrbno pod Pradědem  (the fields by the cemetery)

This circuit is marked with blue signs. It begins at Hvězda – opposite of the parking lot and then continues on the Lázeňská road above Karlova Studánka to Malá Hvězda – this part of the trail is suitable for children as well – the elevation is very low. From Malá Hvězda past Ludvíkov and to Vrbno pod Pradědem. The trail leads above the ski slopes in Ludvíkov (Grizzly, the slope by the municipal office) and it is possible to connect to a different trail to Ludvíkov. There is a big change in the altitude – descent of 200 meters in 4 km and you also have to watch out for skiers going in the opposite direction! The difference in altitude is from 865 to 590 m.a.s.l. The trail’s length is 10,7 km and there are three information panels (Hvězda, Malá Hvězda, Vrbno pod Pradědem). The trail is maintained by snow groomers for both skating and classic style.

 

Trail 6E AC Ludvíkov Koliba – Sedlová bouda – Karlova Studánka

This circuit is marked with blue signs. Very pleasant, but very diccicult trail with long ascent from AC Ludvíkov Koliba to Sedlová bouda. From there you descend all the way to Karlova Studánka – Videlská road. And from there directly to Karlova Studánka, where you can continue on the 6D trail. The difference in altitude is from 560 to 950 m.a.s.l. The trail’s length is 9,1 km.

 

Trail U Školky – Sedlo Hvězda – „Lázeňská“ – Malá Hvězda

The trail’s length is 5,6 km. It connects the 3C trail with Sedlo Hvězda and the road to Karlova Studánka past the popular „Lázeňská“ road. There is a view point from which you can see the entire valley between Karlova Studánka and Ludvíkov and feel the freshest air in the Czech Republic.

Trip ideas

Ludvikov

The town of Ludvikov is situated between the town Vrbno pod Pradedem and Karlova Studanka spa. The whole area is part of the protected landscape area of Jeseniky. The built-up area of the town is situated in a valley along the river Bila Opava. Ludvikov began to emerge around 1700 in a densely wooded area by building foundries and smelters.

 

Karlova Studanka

The picturesque village of Karlova Studanka is situated in the virgin nature of Jeseniky Mountains, on the east side of its highest point - Praded. 
Karlova Studanka spa has a two-hundred-year old tradition. It is located in mountain range Hruby Jeseník at an altitude of 800m above sea level in the valley of the river Bila Opava. The spa is surrounded by mountain countryside and has the cleanest air in central Europe. The overall atmosphere is completed by timbered spa buildings.

 

Praded

Praded – the highest mountain in the Moravian and Silesian region (1492 m) is with its magnificence the symbol of both Jeseniky and the whole area. On its top, there had been an observation tower built in 1912, however it was removed later on. After 1970 there has been built a 145 m high television tower with TV transmitter, a 40 m high viewing tower and a restaurant. If the weather is good you will be able to see the Beskydy Mountains, the Giant Mountains, Polish plain and the High Tatras. 
Praded Mountain is a nature reserve with characteristic flora of alpine fields. On the northwest side there are Tabulove kameny with many species of mosses, lichens and other rare plants. At the top of the mountain there is a landmark of the Teutonic knights and bishops of Wroclaw from 1721.
Praděd offers great conditions for hikers and cyclist in summer. There's a network of marked trails and two nature trails. In winter the slopes of Praded and Petrovy kameny are used as an attractive ski resort.

 

Petrovy Kameny

Petrovy Kameny is a summit located in the mountain range Hruby Jesenik and Pradedska. Hornatina. It is dominating the main ridge from Praděd mountain to Skritek and is a secondary peak to Vysoka hole mountain.  It was declared nature reserve and is now part of National nature reserve.

 

Dlouhe Strane

Dlouhe Strane Hydro Power Plant is located on the Desna river in Jeseniky, near the town of Loucna nad Desnou in Sumperk area. Since the plant site is situated within protected area, the whole plant is operating underground. Entrance to the area is not allowed. The plant organizes regular tours.

 

Ovcarna

Ovcarna is the highest ski centre in the Czech Republic – the ski lift begins at 1300 m.a.s.l. Ovcarna is located at the crossroads of cycling and hiking trails that connect the most significant places of Jeseniky such as Praded, Petrovy kameny and Cervenohorske sedlo. A nature trail Bila Opava and Velka kotlina passes through here and there is also a popular ski resort Praded- Ovcarna.

 

Bila Opava nature trail

The trail encounters many small bridges, footbridges and stairs along the banks of the river Bila Opava – the most beautiful stream in Jeseniky. Aside from several waterfalls, numerous cascades and rapids, rock formations and romantic places in the spruce forest, there are seven information boards, which provide information about the surroundings of this unique place.

 

Mala Moravka

The town of Mala Moravka and its parts, including Karlov pod Pradedem, is one of the most famous and most visited resorts in Hruby Jesenik.  The town is located at 700 – 800 m.a.s.l.  Above the town on Kaplickový vrch hill, there is a Holy Trinity chapel built in 1690, which is now a museum. The town is almost entirely situated within the protected landscape park of Jeseniky.

 

Anensky vrch

Anensky vrch (or Annaberg, 860 m.a.s.l.) is located east of the town of Sucha Rudna and is the dominant part of Andelská hora mountain. At the top, there is a baroque church Svata Anna and on the east side of the mounatin, there is a downhill course. You can also get a beautiful view from the mountain’s top – the skyline of Jeseniky and Praded and the towns of Brutnal or Vrbno pod Pradedem.

 

Cervenohorské sedlo

Cervenohorske sedlo is a popular ski resort in northern Moravia, Hruby Jesenik. It is located at 1013 m.a.s.l. and forms a historical border between Moravia and Czech Silesia. Cervenohorske sedlo ski resort is one of the most popular resorts in northern Moravia.

TRIP #1

Distance: 8,5 km

Elevation: 405 m

Time estimate: 130 min.

Difficulty: EASY

 

Rout description: Follow the forest path from Peras hotel, climb around the Brandloch rock and the viewpoint above Ludvíkov to Sedlová bouda. Then descend to Rolandův kámen - high rock formation with a wide view of the surroundings. Continue with the descent to a canal pound and follow it all the way to the town of Karlova Studánka. Visit the town and then take a bus back to the hotel (7 min.)

 

TRIP #2

Distance: 12 km

Elevation: 815 m

Time estimate: 180 min.

Difficulty: Medium

 

Route description: From Peras hotel to Karlova Studánka by bus (9 min.). Then pass through the valley of Bílá Opava. Follow the yellow, slightly more challenging trail, past the Barborka cottage until you reach the Praděd transmitter. Then follow the asphalt road back to Ovčárna and from there you can take the bus to Karlova Studánka (18 min.). Visit the town and then take a bus back to the hotel (7 min.)

 

TRIP #3

Distance: 16 km

Elevation: 815 m

Time estimate: 240 min.

Difficulty: Hard

 

Route description: Take a bus from Peras hotel to Karlova Studánka (9 min.). Follow the yellow, slightly more challenging trail, past the Barborka cottage until you reach the Praděd transmitter. Then follow the asphalt road back to Ovčárna. From Ovčárna go through the valley of Bílá Opava, following the blue trail all the way to Karlova Studánka. Visit the town and then take a bus back to the hotel (7 min.)

 

TRIP #4

Distance: 20 km

Elevation: 1150 m

Time estimate: 300 min.

Difficulty: Very hard
